This winter, 2008-2009, Keith Brown, Mike Ritchie, Don Nolte, Bud Wilt and others renovated two collection rooms on the
2nd floor of the Savanna Historical Society Museum. The work includes new ceilings, walls, 6 inches of insulation, electrical,
audio and heating systems.
The larger collection room, approximately 27 x 80 feet, was renovated to house an H.O. scale model railroad
of the BN & Milwaukee Yards. The model railroad will measure 18 x 48 feet, modeling the two Savanna Yards
as they were circa 1950. The railroad collection room will be decorated with much Savanna railroad memorabilia
and history.
The second collection room renovated this winter was the Wayne King Collection Room. it measures 21 x 25 feet and
will house an impressive collection of Savanna's Wayne King and His Orchestra history plus dozens of other dance band history
from Savanna and the Dubuque to Davenport corridor along the Mississippi River.
